On the 9th September Year 5 and 6 enjoyed our first experience of World War II when we visited Eden Camp in North Yorkshire. The children enjoyed dressing up as evacuees and did an excellent job of finding appropriate costumes and making very convincing gas mask boxes.
We had an fantastic day exploring all Eden camp had to offer where we got to experience what it would be like to live through the Blitz, had the opportunity to go inside Anderson and Air Raid shelters and found out all about how food was rationed.
The children had a thoroughly enjoyable day as they watched a puppet show, listened to war time songs and learnt all about prisoner of war camps. They are now all set to go and learn even more as we launch into our World War II topic and use the knowledge they have gained from our visit to aid their learning back in school.
