Welcome to Year One. Children will move from life in Reception and begin to make the change from play based learning to a more structured timetable and lesson style. To begin with, lessons are shorter, but as the year progresses the children will be prepared for life in Year Two. This will be the final year of Key Stage One where teaching is more formal.

Children must read at home whenever possible using their reading records. Parents can also help by supporting children with Home Learning tasks each week, spellings will also be sent in Year One.

P.E. is scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday mornings but children should have kits available each day as the timetable may change.

If you require any other information please speak to myself or Miss Dunleavy.

Year 1 News

During the first half term, Year One enjoyed a puppet workshop and looked at old fashioned toys as part of our Toys in History workshop. The children found out that Punch and Judy came from Italy, ran their own puppet show and discovered all the treasures the museum had to offer.
