Starting school is a milestone, not just for your child but also for you. You may be excited about this step or feel a little apprehensive as your child takes their first steps towards independence.
At Parson Cross CE Primary School we aim to build a good relationship between home and school so that everyone involved can ensure that your child gets the very best from their time with us.
Please do not hesitate to contact the school office should you require any further information. Miss Ruel will be able to answer your questions or point you in the right direction.

Arrangements for September - New Starters
Dear Parents and Carers,
We hope you are all safe and well. We are really looking forward to welcoming all of our new reception children soon!
We previously sent you a letter, outlining what our usual transition process looks like. Unfortunately, nothing about the last year or so has been usual due to the current Covid-19 situation and we know you and your little one might be feeling worried about the transition into reception this September.
However, we promise that we will make the transition as smooth and exciting as possible for our new children! We want to reassure you that we will work together to help your child settle happily in to school life.
Parents Welcome Meeting
We held a meeting via Zoom on Wednesday 30th June at 6pm. If you were unable to attend, a link to the information shared is included at the bottom of this page.
A member of staff will email to invite you to come along to our parent welcome meeting, this is a chance to find out more about our school, meet your child’s class teacher and key members of the team.

Transition visits for children
Unfortunately, under current restrictions we are unable to offer transition for the children before September as this involves mixing children from 19 different schools and nurseries. Therefore, we will begin transition in September and children will complete 3 days of transition before starting full time on Thursday 9th September.
Monday 6th September - Visits to school to be arranged by telephone
Tuesday 7th September 9.00am-12pm
Wednesday 8th September 9.00am-1pm (Children will stay for lunch)
These visits will be an opportunity for children to get to know their new classmates and their new teachers. It will also be a valuable opportunity to get to know the children, establish good relationships and enable them to feel confident in their new environment.
Begin full-time school
Thursday 9th September – begin full-time.
Our normal school day is 8.40-3.20pm however at the moment, due to Covid restrictions, we are required to operate a staggered start and finish. We will update you closer to the time on exact start times for your children depending on the latest government guidance.
We look forward to welcoming you all to our school in September. If you have any questions in the meantime- please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
With very best wishes
