Year 4 is a time where your children will develop a clear sense of independence and self-motivation which will be encouraged at every opportunity. So far the children have thoroughly lived up to this expectation and are becoming much more self-assured in everything they do. I cannot wait to see this progress further as the children make their way through the challenges set for them this year.

Today Y4 took part in a Roman Day Workshop with Dave from Time Talk. First, the children got dressed up in Roman tunics complete with gold belts! They all looked great. Dave did a talk about why the Romans came to Britain, what they have done for us and how we know what we do about the Romans. In the afternoon the children learnt how to play Roman games and became very competitive. They also took part in being Roman soldiers which included carrying Roman equipment and completing intensive training. The children were then taught how to make an oil lamp out of clay which they will be bringing home tomorrow. The day was brought to an end with Dave telling a Roman ghost story!
Dave noted how well behaved all the children were and how they were a credit to the school. Mrs Pearson and I are extremely pleased with everyone and super proud of your engagement throughout.
