Music is a subject that encompasses skill, creativity and passion. With support from Sheffield Music Hub we provide a curriculum that fosters a love of music while enabling the children to achieve and to express themselves musically. Music is embedded in our culture and plays a vital role in children’s acquisition of language and in their appreciation and understanding of the world around them.
At Parson Cross, we use the Charanga music scheme to teach children how to talk about and create music and give them the opportunity to sing, play, listen to, perform, and evaluate their own and other people’s music. We aim to develop a love for the subject, the ability and confidence to speak about music and an understanding of the importance of the role that music plays, and has always played, in history and in culture. Children will learn to play an instrument during their time with us and will have the opportunity to perform in a choir or musical group.
